Methodology

The Indian Naval Hydrographic Department (INHD) conducts hydrographic surveys in strict compliance with IHO S-44 standards and has the capability of producing navigational charts conforming to IHO standards for nautical charting. INHD has also made inroads into the technology of making Electronic Navigational Charts complying with IHO S-57 standards. Nautical products of INHD are marketed through a wide network of chart agents in India and abroad.

The Indian Naval Hydrographic Department being the nodal agency for hydrographic surveying and nautical charting in India, offers expert solutions for hydrographic data collection, verification of data, Compilation and Publication of Navigational Charts/ Nautical Publications, Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) surveys and training in hydrographic surveying.

The department is in possession of seven indigenously built modern survey ships and one Catamaran Hull Survey Vessel (CHSV) fitted with state-of-the-art modern surveying equipment. Five more ships for in-shore surveying are likely to be inducted into the department in the near future.

The department has highly experienced man-power qualified in courses which are accredited certification by IHO. INHD believes in human resources development through continuous training. INHD has gained enough experience and expertise in imparting training to personnel from littoral states through National Institute Hydrography located in Goa.

 

CAUTIONARY NOTE:-

Be vigilant for counterfeit/ photocopied Chart. Navigational Charts produced after 31 Oct 2014 carry NHO crest as watermark on the reverse with backslip. Chart Agent's stamp is mandatory on all Charts.
